It's Official

We have made it to 34 weeks!!
Completely, and Officially!!

You see "N & J's" due date calculator, as well as the High Risk OB calculations have me at 34 weeks as of Monday (3 days ago).
My due date calculator, as well as by my OB's calculations have me at 34 weeks as of TODAY!!
So by every way imaginable we have now reached 34 weeks!!'

This very important milestone means a couple of things for all of us.

First.....it means that I am able to deliver the twins at my local hospital, which is literally 5 minutes down the road from me. Very important statistic, when you factor in that this will be my 6th...yes 6th delivery.

Second....it also means that my OB, who we all are very comfortable with, and trust will have the opportunity to be the delivering doctor.

YAY!

We have also officially been discharged from the care of the High Risk OB's care, therefore complete care has been transferred back to my OB.

We had our last High Risk OB appointment on Tuesday. We had an ultrasound of the babies first so that they could to do a biophysical profile on both of the babies, and check their presentation.

The babies both scored 8 out of 8 on the biophysical profile. Baby A is still presenting head-down and her weight is approximated as 4lbs 8oz. Baby B is still presenting breech and his weight is approximated at 5lbs 2oz.

We asked the High Rick OB about his thoughts about delivery. He said that ultimately it is the comfort level of the delivering doctor that will determine what will happen. He also stated that if I arrived at their hospital with the current presentation of the babies, as well as my delivery history; 5 previous uncomplicated vaginal deliveries that he would suggest a vaginal delivery attempt of Baby A and an external version of Baby B, that is if he doesn't turn after the delivery of his sister. We will not attempt a breech extraction of Baby B. Therefore, if Baby B decides that he won't turn or shows signs of distress, we will proceed to deliver him by C-section.

A vaginal delivery of both babies is ultimately the delivery situation that "N", "J", and I have in our minds as our ideal. I am so thankful that we are all on board and comfortable with the same plan. We are all however prepared to change the plan, if required. Some have questioned why I would want to potentially recover from both a vaginal and C-section delivery. My answer to that is that there is no guarantee that I will have to recover from both. I am completely confident in my body's ability to be able to deliver both of the twins.

I guess that only time will tell when and how these babies will enter this world.
